If a hitch would fit a 2007+ Suburban, how come none of the hitch manufacturers think it can? Perhaps much of the frame is the same, but I'm not sure the rear end is. Check it out closely. I'm going to upgrade my hitch in the spring on my Suburban and I was going to go with the Curt hitch but I see it bolts up in the same location as the factory hitch. I like that the biggest Reese bolts up further along the frame, but you have to put up with a 2.5" receiver instead of the 2" of the Curt. I'm leaning towards the Reese right now.
Just because you had a bad GMT-800, doesn't mean they all are. What kind of issues did you have? I find that if I buy new, any issue ticks me off and makes me made. If I buy used and know what the typical issues of that vehicle are, I plan for them, fix them, and move on. Just knowing what to expect is part of it. I even make sure I have that money set aside before the used vehicle purchase to get all the stuff fixed that the previous owner didn't bother to fix because they planned to sell it.
