While it is nice to have 3 rows, we've always traveled with the kids 3 across when traveling. We don't have a dog however. Even with the Suburban we sometimes have the bikes back there and only have 2 rows to use. We do look forward to using it on MUCH longer trips out west, the 3rd row will be very nice. I'd rather have the kids in 1 row than drive two cars.
