My first thought on the hitch is that Curt states the hitch fits 20006-2006
Do you think they forgot to list the other model years? Do you think Duraburb knows more about the Curt hitch than Curt themselves.
I'm sure Curt would love to list the hitch for other model years if it fit.
There is a crumple zone issue, which maybe more the problem than the hitch physically fitting.
Do you want to gamble with gas tank,crumple zone and rear end impact. If Curt opted to shy away from the issue, I got to believe it's more than a mere bolt hole.
As to GVW I towed 10.5 K loaded TT with an 01 Excursion that had a 1700GVW? Without issue.
The X has a good track record for towing heavy. So does the 2500 Burb, A Duraburb is a bit more of a Frankenstein one of a kind vehicle, While I trust the recalculated ratings, I'd be a bit more concerned when exceeding the ratings with a one of a kind vehicle
