Towing 6-7000# Trailer with Toyota Tundra

The Tundra will pull that weight trailer without issue. Plenty of power and good tow gearing. No problems passing, holding interstate speeds or pulling grades. Fuel economy isn't great but Toyota finally added a larger gas tank for the '16 model year.
Where you need to watch though is the payload. What model and trim is he looking at? A loaded crewmax is around 1200lbs payload, a double cab fairs a bit better at around 1400lbs. The tongue weight will eat up a fair bit of that. So things really depend on how much additional weight he plans to carry in the truck (passengers, stuff in bed)
For comparison I towed the tt in my sig (7600lbs loaded) with my '07 crewmax limited for 2 years. Some long 3k trips in some pretty good grades. The Tundra pulled it without breaking a sweat and actually pulled better than our current Ram 2500, but with the family on board we were always around 400lbs over payload but more importantly under the axle ratings. We did upgrade to E rated tires and added airbags for comfort, not necessity.
The Tundra is a great truck, wish we still had ours. If the numbers work I highly recommend it.
