I have a 2012 ram outdoorsman 1500, 17" e range tires, with a 3.92 axle and a 29' camper fully loaded weighing 7400lbs. Personally if I was buying new I would have a bigger truck. My truck handles it well but currently its me and the wife with two dogs. I am weigh 7000lbs which is technically 300lbs over gvwr. Im well within all awr by at least 400lbs. I have a 900lb tongue weight.
If youre very worried about ride the new 2500 seems to have a good ride and for 2014 has the same fram as the 3500 dually. I think that camper would be good for the 6.4 hemi in a 2500 with either axle ratio. I dont have power issues only payload. Everytime I pack I have to think about where to put it. The hitch also had to be set up perfectly which is good but any bit off and it handled bad with tractor trailers passing.
Any other question just ask
