Congratulations you have taken the time to do the math. A lot of people do not and end up in trouble.
I have a similar situation. With my new truck cap, my F -150 is about 200 lbs. under the max. cargo capacity with people, dog and tools etc. When loaded, my trailer is within about 1000 lbs. of max cargo capacity. The combination puts the rig at 80 to 90% of the recommended towing capacity.
So the question is how close to the max capacities are YOU comfortable with? If my fortunes were unlimited I would own an F-250. Unfortunately they are not.
