First, 800 lbs of cargo is very conservative. Folks that "travel light" will add 1000 lbs of cargo, families add around 1500 lbs, with the average being 1200 lbs. 3 gallons of water is unlikely to be useful...that's not enough for the pump to pick up from the bottom of the tank.
Where did you hear that? Is that based your own "stuff"? I've weighed mine. Everything we put in the trailer, excluding food and bicycles (because we don't always take our bikes), weighs close to 400#. That's for 2 adults. In fact when we got the bigger trailer last year, we dumped a lot stuff that wasn't getting used, so it could be less than that now. I can't imagine what people need that would be them up over 1000# of stuff. but to each his own...
Agree. I also can't imagine the junk it would take to put that much weight in a camper. You really don't have to carry everything you own. And in fact. The average family carries no where near 1500lb of camping gear. We were told it is more in the 600lb range. But then, we just camp in it, we don't try to live in it. And DW's name ain't Lucy, and she don't collect rocks.
I weighed our's ready to camp. I added less than 600lbs to the dry weight. And that included 10 folding chairs, Grill, Camp Stove, awning matt, pots pans, cups, plates. silverware, towels for a week, sheet's blankets, folding tables, some clothes, food, and drinks. Don't really have room fro anything else.
