O.k. so towing and weighing this weekend was a no go. I we have another "Arctic Blast" in Upstate New York I think we are all going to have nervous breakdowns. So I contacted Jayco one more time to get clarity on how they address the matter of weight for their trailers. For instance, I have a unladen weight of 6150 lbs. Now I know from my earlier posts I kept saying 7030 lb or so, but according to the manufacturing supervisor of Jayco via the customer service representative, the 7030 lb unladen listed on the cabinet door is a combination of shipped as weight and hitch weight, the amount that I would be towing down the road is the 6150 lb unladen and the 880lb unladen hitch weight is the down force that is applied to the tow vehicle's suspension. Now with my math, my maximum tow capacity is 8750 lb, 20% of that is 1750 lb, leaving a max tow cap of 7000 lb to tow. With a 6150 lb unladen weight of the trailer that would leave 750 lbs of capacity to reach that 20% marker for tow capacity. I am not, I repeat, I am not hunting for commendation, or a thumbs up from anyone because I still have to weigh the trailer. These numbers are merely to update my post and provide clarification forward. O.K. Weight Police Have at it.
