What is the hitch weight of your popup when loaded for camping? Max hitch weight for the receiver is probably 350 lbs, but you should check on this.
Figure the weight of occupants, add the weight of options and any other cargo you'll carry in the vehicle, and maybe you have to add the weight of a full tank of gas. Now add the hitch weight to all of that. Are you bumping really close to 1000 lbs?
I know that if I were traveling solo, and if my trailer's hitch weight were within spec, I would have no hesitation about using the Rav4 with the extra cooling. You have to run the numbers and see where you'll be on payload, though. Might be wise to run the Rav across a CAT scale and see the actual weight; optional equipment weight can be a surprise!
