Salesmen will say almost anything to get you to buy; he probably didn't want you to walk away if you thought you couldn't pull it with your Tundra.
I had the same setup as you; a 5.7 Tundra pulling a 29' TT and I will tell you that you will not like it! You will whiteknuckle every time a big rig passes you because you will get sucked into his lane. You will probably go through many brake pads and rotors. I went to a 5th wheel and got a 3500 SRW and can not describe the difference! WOW, I can drive with one hand on the wheel now. Exhaust brakes are awesome! And the new diesels are great for everyday use too. Look at the 3500 vs the 2500, there isn't much price difference and you can get the added payload, even though you won't need it now, you never know about the future. Good luck.
