SAN BERNARDINO - A jackknifed sport-utility vehicle and an overturned 29-foot recreational vehicle blocked two lanes of the 215 Freeway for about two hours on Sunday, causing a traffic nightmare on northbound lanes.
The crash was first reported at about 11:30 a.m. on the northbound 215 Freeway near the University Parkway off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol website.
The CHP said all lanes reopened around 1:30 p.m.
According to the driver of the orange Chevrolet Avalanche, Hal Clark, 65, of Running Springs, he swerved to avoid a vehicle that cut him off.
The swerving caused the SUV and attached recreational vehicle to jackknife.
The Avalanche was turned around but remained upright. The RV overturned.
"People are in such a hurry and don't realize the consequences when they drive fast," said Clark's wife, Kathy Clark.
