My son was there as a first responder and extracted the victims. He was privy to what happened from those involved and who saw it and investigated it.
Terrible accident for sure, and would be interested to learn the details...assuming the pickup driver accelerated to 75 to pass the truck on the downhill, what went wrong? Did the TT start swaying on its own? Did a tire blow out? A gust of wind grab the TT?
Unfortunately we can't ask the driver of his passenger, but the semi driver likely saw the whole thing unfold. Crashes don't happen simply because of speeding, they happen because the faster speed shortens the driver's response time beyond his capabilities to react to an unforeseen event like a blowout.
Also interested to know if the pickup driver was going faster than 65 and if so was he exceeding the speed limit since those are the specific topics we have been discussing in this thread.
