My opinion based on years and years being a trucker and truck owner and pulling RV's for over 50 years is that speed is not your friend when towing anything and the faster your going the more likely you are to have an accident because reaction time is less. I have seen way to many rv/car and big rig
wrecks and some, not all, could have been evoided if they were not towing as fast as they were.
At the end of the day, that's it. You just never know if you will ever be in a serious accident and you just might save your own life one day and others around you by towing slower. Some think it will never happen to them and also put 100% faith in their TT & TV working 100% properly if ever needed the most.
I was in a serious car accident 16 years ago that was 100% the other guy's fault. Never thought it would happen to me. Cause? Excessive speeding. I'm lucky I wasn't killed. Could have been avoided if the other driver had obeyed the speed limit. All that happened to him was his insurance premiums went up but I haven't been the same since. Still freaks me out when I see someone going way over the speed limit or driving aggressively on a highway. Speeding or unnecessarily driving at high speeds is not cool.
Won't ever find me going above 65 mph while towing or more than a few mph over a posted limit.
