Towing above 65
Currently out camping and on the way up I was getting past left and right by rv's. If you have a proper truck and change your trailer tires to LTs. Can trailers be safely towed in the 70 mph range. Thanks

How accurate is GPS? I know for a FACT that the GPS in my cruiser (which is a VERY expensive unit and one of the most accurate we could buy at the time) is accurate within something like 80 feet. Being off by 80 feet at any point in time could seriously skew the numbers. As a result, speeds measured by GPS units are not certified in courts of Maryland. Might be different in your jurisdiction, but it is no where near exact enough to be entered into evidence as fact in Maryland.- Looks like a no-pass double yellow.
Apparently the final report is available. http://www.isp.idaho.gov/patrol/crash_report.html - I looked and looked and found this, almost "exactly" where the wreck occurred heading down towards the bridge. The rver who took this picture remarked about the grueling 8 mile grade.

WHILE PASSING IN THE OPPOSING LANE, BARNES DROVE HIS TRUCK AND CAMP TRAILER BACK INTO THE NORTHBOUND LANE BEFORE CLEARING POTTERBERG'S VEHICLE......
THAT is driver error...period.
I tow at 62 mph majority of time......few times at 68 mph.
And I have run combo up to 75 mph to pass some semis/MHs but I prefer 62 mph.
One thing I try not to do is screw up........that will get you in a wreck faster than anything.- Other than the fact that witnesses said there was another semi comming in the oncoming lane.

I am surprised none of The folks in favor of towing at 80 mph said "see if Mr. Barnes had been towing his trailer just a little bit faster, he would have cleared the tractor before he had to change back into the northbound lane. See, speed doesn't kill, it could save your life!"
Of course I don't mean to make humor out of some families unfortunate situation. regardless of what caused the accident, some fellow camper is now deceased prematurely, and his family and friends have suffered a loss.

That's the problem with a ISP report that people who have never been to the area could not understand. It's a two hill/grade. They had just topped the first grade with about 1/4 mile on a downhill Hill grade to the much longer whitebird grade. There were a couple things left out of the report but it doesn't matter much now even though they're were decending down the first grade when it happened.
I could explain until my face turned blue and know one would understand because they have never been to this particular area famous for wrecks, especially in the winter as I couldn't possibly understand a wreck say in Florida. Never been there!

You want us to believe that the collision occurred solely because of his speed. Where is your proof?
Just curious... why did you cherry pick the ONE question that is easy enough to explain away (even if it isn't proof) and completely ignore the more important question that is central to your entire theory behind posting the picture?
