I'm glad I didn't take your advice. Pulled my new rig twice already. Sways less than my 30 ft with this new hitch system. Embrace technology rather than trying to talk down to me. Since I am physician, next time you visit I will treat you with 1985 medicine and see how you like it. Your opinions are severely out of date. And by the way 38 years of camping here so I can claim experienced too.

So apparently you really had no intention of taking the advice of what the majority of 'very' experienced RV'ers advised you of?

Since no one else is going to say it I will. If not only for others who might read this forum for advice, because 'where' you tow has nothing to do with the 'safety' of towing.

The fact that anyone is towing a TT that is too long for a short wheel based tow vehicle has NOTHING, ZIP, ZERO to do with whether one uses the interstate to get to their destination, or the number of miles traveled, or whether the trips are in one state.

An 'unsafe' towing set up is dangerous to the owner AND all the other vehicles around them if it is being towed 5 miles down the road on any road.

I pray for others driving around you when you have to make a corrective move and can not do so with that set up without causing an accident. :(

Was that a gen iii, iv, or v 5.3? The gen v has about 50 HP and lb/ft on the gen iv and about 75 on the gen iii. I think the short wheelbase is a lot more limiting than the 365/380 of the current 5.3.

I'm pulling 27 feet (roughly 6500lbs ready to go) with a 1500 Suburban. As far as the body goes it's fine. The 5.3 works pretty hard. The shorter wheel base of the Tahoe might be a game changer though. I see Tahoes pulling trailers in and out of the campgrounds all the time. So, people do it for sure. Personally, I wouldn't pull 35 feet with my Suburban. I know I wouldn't try it with a Tahoe.

As others have said a 35' TT is too much for a Tahoe. I've owned several Tahoe's and they are just not built to handle that length.

My current TT is pretty much identical to your spec's and I towed it with a 2014 Silverado 1500 CC 4wd for a year with but I spent a lot of time getting the WD hitch setup perfectly. Even with that it would get a little interesting on the highway at times. The truck had enough power (5.3l w/ 6 speed and 3.42 gears) but I could never get it stable enough where I arrived at the campground relaxed.

Switched to an F250 and it is night and day different. I don't feel like the tail is wagging the dog anymore.

Sway will be an issue.

Been there done that. It was a real learning curve for me.
Tried a first trip using a Tahoe from Wisconsin to California and my TT weighted far less than the one the OP is planning on towing.

I Got as far as Tulsa and turned around. Wasn't about to white knuckle it all the way to the west coast. Tail wagging the dog all the way.

Just because a car manufacturer states it can tow X amount of weight doesn't mean it can tow it safely.
