Cool car, I like them. But as one who has had real SUVs, from a full size '87 Bronco, to the first 4-door Yukon in '95, and four Expeditions, I guess I'm stuck thinking an SUV is supposed to be a whole lot different vehicle than what passes for them today.
You don't mention which engine you have. Best I see they all seem to be rated to tow 7700#, yet the torque numbers are from under 300 ft/lbs to well over 400 with the 240 hp diesel, which is going to make towing more "comfortable." It would be interesting to know what you are going to be pulling with, engine-wise. As the Cougar loaded is likely going to weigh 7k, tongue weight near 900 and about 28 feet in length, being towed with a 114" wheel base vehicle, which is about the same an an older Explorer, be sure you want to do this. If it were me, I'd shed a couple thousand pounds and several feet. But then, I may be overly cautious.
