I recently wanted to go with a 5th wheel, but my hub is right. With alllllllllll the *stuff* we take with us (sans the Dung Beetle nickname) a bumper pull allows us to fill the truck canopy up with necessary items..
We did the opposite for the same reason. We bought a 5th wheel instead of a tow behind because the 5ths have far more storage. Most like ours have what 5'ers call a basement. A very large outside storage compartment. All our chairs, bbq, table, generator etc. all go here. Then in the front of the trailer is another large storage compartment for tools, hoses etc. The tow behind travel trailers that were the same size, same inside floorplan etc. lacked most of this storage. The only thing I need to put into the bed of the truck is an ice chest and it fits with room to spare with the 5th wheel hitch.
We loved our two popups and later a hybrid trailer but got tired of having to load up the bed of our truck and the floor of the trailer while towing. A 5th wheel has storage for everything!
