I personally would never tow in the snow if at all possible. Although several years ago, we did get caught driving in about 3" of snow on Labor Day while traveling from Flaming Gorge Recreation Area in Utah to Bear Lake in Wyoming. :E
And definitely would not tow if it got to a point where chains were recommended or necessary. :S
