Towing over 10K lbs with 6 passengers...
So I'm searching for a vehicle that can tow our 10K lb trailer and still give us room to carry 6 total passengers, 4 of them under 12 which means they can't ride in the front with an airbag turned on....

Personally, I think you made a great choice. The kids will only keep growing. Plenty of people say they are very comfortable with six adults (or near adults) in a crew cab. I don't see it, especially for the longer trips. You all will be way more comfortable in that van. Plus there is additional interior, secure space available.
I sold a crew cab to go with a 2500 8.1 Suburban and there are only three of us. I'm glad I did as we tried both and much prefer the Suburban.
