As an example, wouldn't it make sense that if a truck's RAWR+FAWR=GVWR that the complete truck is designed for GVWR. Whereas if RAWR+FAWR>GVWR than something inbetween the axles is not designed for (full RAWR+FAWR).
Axle weights are always greater then GVWR..
example... My truck is 4900 GVWR... Its registered as 5000 GVWR..
My axles are 2700 each so 5400...
Tires 2270?? x 4 = 9080 LOL...
My weakest link are my axles....Dont you think that if my axles are 2700 my suspension has to be rated at that?
You can register your truck for a higher amount if you wish.. Per my axle rating I can go to motor vehicle and register for 5400 lbs... Maybe this is the whole GVWR vs GAWR???? Dont know..
Again I drove a tractor trailer for years. I go by axle rating. And if the DOT pulled me over there is nothing they can say as I will give them the facts....
How many 5th wheels are over thier axle ratings???? Many IMO.. If you dont weigh and kill someone in an accident and are over that weight your screwed from what I know....
