Towing with 1/2 Ton Suburban or Yukon
We are getting ready to buy a new tow vehicle. New to us anyway. We are looking at late 90s or early 2000 Suburban 1500 or Yukons. Everyone tells me this v8 5.7 engine is big enough to tow our 5200lbs...

I had a '98 1500 burb and towed our 7800lb. trailer with it. Did ok, but I was at the max for the truck and at 189,000 miles, it was time for a new one. It should do just fine for what you are pulling. Like others before...NO OVERDRIVE when towing if it is a 4-speed tranny. I found out the hard way and ended up replacing mine around 124,000 miles. It doesn't have enough RPM on the trans pump to move the fluid to keep the fluid cool when towing in OD.
