Lots of us tow behind the TC, many with more than a 30" extension. Personally I use a 48". I pull between 6-7000 pounds of horse trailer (6k with one horse 7k with 2. I use a Torklift super hitch and 48"super truss couple to a WD hitch with 1200# bars. I roll down the highway at just over 20000 pounds. I wouldn't use any other hitch set up for that much weight.
