Towing with a Van

I would like to have a Van as a TV. I love all the room inside and being able to store a lot inside the vehicle. We often take 8 plus people on local trips and I can remove the seats for work.

My question is, how do the 3/4 and 1 ton vans work as TV? I will probably be looking at Chevy Express' with the 6.0 and E series vans with a V10 (not opposed to a newer 5.4)

Thanks!

Jeremiah

  • I wqs going to mention that there is someone on here, who converted his van to a duelly....and there he is, right above me!
The duelly will give better stability, but I'm sure that the 3/4 and 1 ton versions with SRW will do fine for what you want.

Keep in mind, if you are carrying 8 folks with you, you need to take their weight into account, in addition to the trailer, so it may make more sense to go for the 1-Ton!

The V-10 is a proven engine, with plenty of power.
  • I tow with a 05 6.0 diesel E350. Usually have no problems moving down the road with a 9000 lb trailer. Get about 12 or 13mpg towing. Now, if I can just keep that blankety blank diesel from breaking all the time I'll be OK.
