What comforts does an FJ Cruiser have over any <10 year old pickup? Have you seen some of the features in the LTZ, Denali, Platinum, Laramie trim levels? A pickup won't be as agile off road as the FJ, due to wheelbase.
4200 pounds dry means over the 4700 pounds tow rating when loaded for a long weekend trip. 5000-ish pounds of TT means 500-700 of TW against the 1130 pounds(max) of payload. Verify weight of family and gear.
Towing with any naturally aspirated engine after your experience with the CTD might be painful. Cruisng at 2500-3000rpm with 5000rpm up hills is fine for the engine, but not the mind of many people.
