Yes, goducks, I am the guy with the six speed manual, and I agree, in these class trucks, the manual is a better choice for towing. Party because of the control issues you mention, and also, in the case of the Frontier, getting the manual also got me 3.69 gears vs the automatic which has 3.32 ratio. I think the gearing differences are similar in the Tacoma lineup.
