I towed 4000# loaded trailer with one. There were a few problems.
The trailer had a high tongue weight and the truck had a low payload, and I like to carry stuff in the bed of the truck. So I was always over the GVWR by 300-500#. Like others have said: check the payload available and compare to the tongue weight of your trailer and what you want to carry in the truck.
To get the torque needed, the V6 needs to wind up. I didn't mind it in the mountains so much as we just tucked in behind a slow semi and watched the scenery go by.
But on the prairies, against a day long head wind, when you really want to get some miles in, it gets tiresome. The 2009 I had did not have very good sound deadening so was noisy.
It had a good stiff suspension great for towing, a lot better than my new F150 (with almost twice the payload), but it's pretty rough when unloaded.
