I bought my first new car in 1973. It was a Toyota Corolla. All of it...every little bit was made in Japan. The body work rusted through within 2 years.
I bought my next Toyota ....new...in 2007. Got rid of it in 2015. Never had a vehicle with so many electronic issues.
