I recall this issue when I owned my old 2000 Tundra that I bought used off a gentleman, had a 60K miles when I bought it. Unfortunately the prior owner did not have the upgraded brakes installed, which he could have for free. It really was not a "recall" but a TSB that would authorize the dealer to upgrade the brakes if the customer complained. Some had know problems and many did. There was an old post on tundrasolutions.com about 7 years ago in which a guy pulled all the later model parts off a Tundra from a junk yard and did the upgrade himself.
