We live in San Clemente and we like to head out there in December for the Geminid meteor showers. It's always nice and dark and clear and uncrowded.
Sometimes we visit the Salton Sea as part of the trip to check out the birds. The dawn lift-off of the geese and sandhill cranes is an amazing sight.
