I actually know several members of a group who went car camping out there some years ago. I think it was in February. They got to high ground when the water rose, but even later were unable to get out of the area until a jeep club came and rescued them.
The Fish Creek area is great to explore, but you ought never forget that it drains a VERY large area of desert.
