Thanks for the compliments and comments. Few specific replies --
What does?
Silver - they did not introduce themselves, and I was too busy swatting to care. Until I wised up, stopped using the hardwall windows with the leaky screens, and instead used the softwall screens soaked in bug repellent. Much better --
Thanks for the picture plug -- I agree. The commentary might even be a little more coherent.
Think back, Dave - I know you can still do it. Remember the White Mountains? 8, 9, 10,000 feet. Not Colorado or Idaho, but still 2 blanket night time temps, and furnace in the morning.
Canon SX120
Thanks for the tip -- but in 112 temps? Might still be worth it. Or maybe I should just stop trying to fight Tamerisk.
By the way, as partial compensation for the puny-ness of many of the Az 'rivers', here's a repeat from a prior visit to the Upper Salt River in the Tonto National Forest.

Still not the Missouri or Mississippi, but a real river, contained entirely withing Az.

What kind of bugs are up there? Cedar/pine gnats?
*Great report. Full sized images are great at Cal's website.

Nice trip report Cal, you covered a lot of territory. I would say cool trip report but as you said, not.

I opted for Brush Pants with Cordura legs, like chaps, from Cabella's to wend my way through the thorny underbrush.
