I like the way you have them cockpit down but not sure how I'd do that on ours as the rack crossbars are close to the roof and upside down the bow would dig into the roof. it's very basic; I hook a snap link on the bow cleat and use a knottted line to haul the boat while standing on the tc roof up and ruth guides the stern from the ground. On the cross bars I have Dakine foam pad that has a nylon protective cover for each boat (total of four pads)
I attach the kayak to the rack like this
you can put them keel up or down using the foam pads. i just prefer keel up
Thanks for the photos and explanation. I removed the dish part of the satellite receiver to make room for the kayak but it looks like you went farther and removed the dish support too. I think I'll try that. We're headed into northern Canada next month and there are too many lakes to be found for us not to take the kayaks and your info will help that happen. Thanks again.
