Trailer length concerns

Has anyone run into issues with trailer length restrictions in RV parks or state/federal campgrounds?

I am about to purchase a 34' trailer and don't want to be excluded from campgrounds due to length.

  • The roads in to the areas in and around the Smokey Mountains, gives new meanings to "Pucker Factor". Areas around Cass, West Virginia offer the same results. ;-)
  • Several state parks in South Carolina, Florida , and N. Carolina list max lengths. Some are lots shorter than 30'. Some National Parks also list max lengths.
  • Yes there are restrictions but if you go to the good Sam Rv map and check the big rig box it will only show campgrounds for big rig spaces. Very helpfull

We use public CG's most of the time and do not have a problem BUT we do not show up Friday thinking there will be sites big enough for us.
  • I had a 24 ft TT and I had troubles in one Oregon cg. scratched the heck out of the side of the truck and broke the bug shield trying to get in and out of the spot. Oregon has a lot of bushes surrounding their cg sites. But in defense of your TT we now have a 35 ft TT and we just don't stay in Oregon CG very often.
  • We tow a 34' 5th wheel

Have had some issues in state/national parks.
Tight narrow roads, parallel entrances to sites (vs slanted) which can be tough to get into due to lack of area for front of truck to swing.

    Low overhead branches

RV parks.........very few issues with length

    COE CGs.......never been an issue

Checking ahead....on line CG websites/maps and Goggle Earth are your friend

What kind of turning radius does that Freightliner have?
