This is a fairly old thread, but both options are good. In my family we have 5th Wheels and TTs along with a TC. For me, I use two different TTs. I choose the shorter one because I like getting back further off road to places where a large 5th wheel or a long TT wouldn't go. I also carry a quad in the back of my truck, so a 5th wheel really isn't an option. Some TTs are low to the ground, so if that is an issue, then it is a simple process to move the axles above the leaf springs instead of below them. The key is a good hitch assembly and proper tongue loading with an appropriate size TV, which the OP appears to have.
