Transmission Temp 08 1500 Silverado

Hey gang.

I'm hauling a passport 2920BH with a 08' silveardo 1500 Crew cab.

My normal Tranny temps when not pulling run about 160. When towing I can get up to 210-220 on the highway.

What is too high? Every person I ask says there really is no set temp but it is kinda proportional compared to your non-towing temp. Is that true?

No I don't have weights to give in the post as I have not done them. The TT is not close to it's max weight and the Silverado should be well under it's max Tow weight.

There is no real thing as to high. It's a proportional thing. The closer you get to 300+ degrees the faster the ATF and seals in the transmission will break down.

That being said, the modern ATV is very good stuff and will last a very long time. Some modern transmissions don't even have a way to refill them. They are sealed from the factory and will last the life of the transmission.

210 to 220F for modern ATF is nothing to worry about.
