We bought both our HTT and TT from RVWholesalers in OH. On the HTT we special ordered it, but FR was building standard units as fast as they could, so the 4 - 6 week delivery we were told was running on to 12 weeks with no trailer in sight. We moved up the corporate line and were working with the owner of RVW and told him we were dropping our grandsons off Friday afternoon and would be at his office at 9:00 Saturday morning and would expect either another trailer of our choice or a refund of the deposit. We left at 3:00 with another trailer + some extra goodies including a slide awning for our inconvenience. No further discussion of a refund.
When we bought our TT, we saw it online and initiated the process with the $1000 deposit. We knew that it was changeable to another unit, but NOT refundable. Big letters on the paperwork. I am not familiar with dealers who actually refund deposit money....change, yes. Refund, not aware. Unless your paperwork specifically says "refundable" I think you're likely out of luck. I do understand your feelings and agree that in the interest of goodwill, the dealer would refund. However.....remember that they likely have a lot of folks that come in, fall in love with a trailer, jump in and then decide they either love something else they've found even more or that they've made a huge mistake. The dealer can't operate having their staffs' time and resources tied up and then have to turn around and make refunds. They're in business to make money, not return it.
I truly do understand your feelings, but unless you've got it on your contract, your best bet would be to ask them to hold those funds until a later date and apply it to another purchase. Some states have a "Buyers Remorse" or 3-day law, but believe that only goes into effect after you've actually taken delivery....not sure. Likely a very expensive lesson here.
