Thanks so much for your replies. It does sound like the MDX may not cut it for what we want. If we do get, say, a used pickup truck, what make/model do you recommend? We'd want the one with the best fuel economy but that will still pull a small fixed-sided trailer. Is it worth it to get a diesel pickup?
Is the TravelManor 2417 a relatively new model? I don't see that many used ones available for sale, though I've only done a very quick search so far.
To answer your question about what our RV trips will look like: We plan on traveling continuously in it for several months, hitting up national parks and forests and other wilderness areas. We also plan on visiting friends in different places, some of which are urban. (I know that many people think we're crazy to live for several months in a place so small, but we've traveled in a 2-person tent for several months before, so I think this will seem luxurious in comparison.)
