Travel Trailer Tires
My TT uses small 14" tires, one of which blew out on a very recent trip. I am wanting info on good/bad tire brands from fellow RVrs. Any suggestions or experiences will be appreciated.

The Kumho 857 is a LT tire for commercial light truck, transporter, van and trailers. Only available in 14", it has an 8ply strength D load range with Q(99mph)speed rating. In 205/R14 it has a max load of 2271 @ 65psi. I had these mounted on 14" aluminum rims rated to 65psi on my 7800# GVWR Keystone Bullet. Got em at Belle Tire. Special order. I put over 5000 miles on them this summer. So far so good.
I just called my local tire dealer, he said none of his suppliers listed the Kumho 857. I was disappointed, that's the way I intended to go. He got me another Load range D in that size, and with a 6000 lb gross trailer, I expect to be OK. I agree, loading and care may be more important than tire brand.

Never have used Maxxis, but I have over 20 years experience and use of the GY Marathon TT tire (1996 to present) and one set of the Kumho 857s and am a firm believer in the GY Marathons. A HUGE ADVANTAGE of these is you can get them at almost any WM anywhere and many, many more tire and RV dealers than any of the other brands.
Proper inflation, speed, and avoiding damaging the tires from road hazards, potholes, curbing, etc. are 100X more important than the brand of tire as long it's not ACME or has Wiley the Coyote on it's label.
You might want to read My Kumho Tire Saga for an interesting read and more details on my views on TT tires.

Just purchased 14 inch Carlisle HD at Discount Tire. Pricey @100.00 per tire. Time will tell. Excited about having a radial and higher speed rating. Originals were bias and gave me a solid 18k miles trouble free.
