Ten years ago on our first long haul - we traveled to Mexico from Northern Quebec. Ride to US border was rough but once I filled the fresh water tank to the very top - the ride was much better.
It really depends on weight distribution and other factors which reveal themselves along the way. Experiment and test to see what's best for your requirements. All the best and hoppy trails!:C
p.s. As a bonus cool canadian water tasted fine in Ol' Mexico.
