Have not had any of those fancy vent cover covers. Not actually certain of the purpose of a cover cover. Like wearing 2 pairs of underwear as an insurance policy?
I wouldn't worry about the integrity of the crank up vent cover if it's up while driving. Aside from old crusty brittle covers, that are one step away from breaking anyway, the typical vent covers don't get damaged by being left up in transit. At least not in the 20+ years I've been hauling trailers and campers around the country.
