I will ask her about driving -- it is a good idea, but she does not like to drive, and I do. But she should know how to tow -- it is an important skill. She definitely knows how to hitch up, and she directs me when it is time to back up.
But for the last 44 years, I have done almost all of the significant driving, except for local trips to the grocery store. She navigates -- I can't read a map or a phone in a moving vehicle (motion sickness). A great partnership.
Although having her drive will definitely cure her boredom, it will not satisfy her need for physical activity. Yes, rest stops and gas stations reduce the problem but do not eliminate it.
If we had a motorhome, I bet we could rig up an exercise bike that she could ride while I drive. (Is that even legal??) I know for sure it is against the law to have her ride in the trailer while it is moving. (And is that true in every state? I know it is in Calif.)
Having a very active wife has forced me to keep in shape, more so than I would have if left to my own slothful preferences. Usually, her vigor and energy are valuable assets. In this particular case, not so much.
Someone sent me a private message suggesting alcohol or sedatives. Funny idea, but not going to happen.
We have a big trip coming up soon -- I will let you know if the bungee cords are helpful or not.
