I wonder how you went through so much propane. I traveled for 4 months. Most of the time is was at or below freezing at night with day temps from the 40s to at best the low 60s but those higher temps were rare. I did not have hook ups and did not visit relatives. So in addition to heating, I used propane to cook all my meals and to heat water for a nightly shower. In 4 months I ran through 3 1/2 tanks of propane. I thought that was a lot.
