Driving back to back Hemi 6.4 and Cummins auto (non-Aisin), I didn't notice much difference in empty acceleration. You feel a little more low end torque in the diesel, but it didn't seem to equate to any faster times. ib516 found the same when he ran loaded with the 3500 srw and his 2500 6.4.
I would like to be back to at least the 35 gallon tank, but a slighly larger optional tank would be nice too.
Gas in central OH is currently about 80 cents cheaper per gallon than diesel, plus there is the cost of DEF with the diesel to increase cost per mile.
I will 100% agree with some of the other posters that most people don't buy the diesel to save money (some heavy haulers for a living may). If I full timed or needed the power day in and day out, I would likely have gone diesel, but these new gas engines are a huge step forward in capability. As of today, I feel like I made the right decision. Now, if I could get a lightly bombed 5.9 Cummins without the emissions garbage with a 6 speed manual in a 2014 body, that would be the way to go.
