Now that we have a few folks that have provided real world feedback with the 6.4 regarding gas mileage while towing/hauling, it would be nice to see the same kind of response on the article's discussion of how the truck handles in real world cross wind conditions with the air bag suspension.
I would have thought the truck with the 6.4 gas engine would have accellerated much faster than the Cummins diesel, but it appears that they were virtually the same.
Now that diesels have comparable HP, and more low rpm hp (some call it torque ;-) ) they generally have very similar performance, loaded and unloaded, they just do it at different RPM's, and at varying efficiencies.
But as the performance has become similar, so has the mileage, dispelling the diesel's supposed cost savings.
That is why most publications that test both find the mpg to be the same, when the truck has similar performance. Diesels with significantly less power tend to do better in this regard than slow gas powered rigs.
Diesels are about effortless, lower rpm operation, and (due to turbocharging exclusively) better high altitude performance.
