I'm also looking at this option, comming out of an 08 quad with the 6.7; we're planning on a year long cross country family trip, and the Mega is needed to keep family and dogs happy (please don't even discuss the crew with me; already tried both and we like the reclining seats and huge platform they make when folded flat). We're towing a 34' fiver, around 11,000 empty; with the 4.10 and 4x2 driveline, we should easily haul it. Since this will be the largest trailer we'll get (Airstream or classic trailer next) the 6.4 is perfect. The cost: over $12,000 more for the 6.7/Aisin combo; it would take a very long time to recoup that cost. I've seen diesel over $1 more/gallon on I10, and I don't get much more than the OP pulling my rig (9 avg). Factor in DEF and you're paying about $4k more per year for the Cummins. What I want to know is unloaded mileage with the 4.10's.
Another factor is MSRP; 6.4 2500 Longhorn about $55k; a 3500 6.7/Aisin closer to $70. I'll never get anywhere close to breaking even buying the 3500.y cars I've looked at over the years.
The 4th gen is night and day different than mine; so much nicer than some luxur
We stayed at Ft Wilderness last spring, also for a week, and loved it, but can only do it every couple of years ($$$$$$$$).
