Apples to oranges; IMO, the capability of the 6.7 needs the strength of the Aisin, especially if I'm going to be pulling a heavy fiver full time. Call it piece of mind.
Having a 68 in my truck, I've never been happy with it, especially the way it shifts under load. The new 68's may be better, but I still don't trust a transmission that is also suited behind a gasser for really heavy work.
Even taking away the $2300 savings of the 68 over the Aisin, that's still pushing $9,000; considering the cost of admission for getting the diesel, it just makes sense to spend a little more and get the best/strongest I can.
Just my opinion, which you may not share.
