Thanks for all the comments everyone.
I'll pick out a few to reply to:
Whazoo : We are taking the camper up to Sally's sister's house tomorrow for a couple of nights including New Year's eve. This Christmas trip went so well we are considering doing the same next year - possibly the other side of the country - Norfolk.
clikrf8 : I've only seen pictures of the Oregon coast; never been lucky enough to visit, but yes, I see some similarity.
RobertRyan : Yes, there are good roads to Tintagel. However if you avoid the main road and take the lanes via Crackington and Millook Haven then they are a whole different world.
Sleepy : Yes, you are absolutely right - we try to spend as much time away in the camper as we can.
btggraphix : We loved walking that rugged coast with its interesting geology. I thought of you immediately when I say the folded rock of the Cornish cliffs.
jefe 4x4 : Fascinating to hear about the Cornish miners. I've seen signs of them in other locations, such as New Zealand. Interesting to see how people always bring a little bit of home with them when they move to a new continent to work.
seldomseensmith : We certainly had a wonderful time. Normally I hate the short days of winter - light after 8am, dark by 4pm, but this actually gave me a much needed chance to lie in bed late and relax, something I'm not normally good at doing.
cewillis : Would have included pictures of some Arthurian legends if we found them, but unfortunately Arthur and Merlin must have been tucked up in the warm for the winter - we did find Santa though.
Led 67 : I just happened to have a camera in my hand as I noticed Sally struggling with the doors in the wind :)
flaxi : Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all of you.
67avion : The buffeting of the howling winds was a bit tiring - between that and the sound of the rain it did take a toll on our sleep.
Steve.
