Trip Report Improvements

We are working on transferring the Trip Report Sticky. During the transfer process, it would be a good time to make changes to the format. So, if you have any suggestions, please let me know and they will be taken into consideration.

  • The recent trips reports in the top or second post is probably workable and easily done.

I have some other ideas too, but I need to make sure it's easy to maintain. I figure I will only have it for a few years and need to make sure the next volunteer can easily keep it going.

The idea is to improve upon what is being handed over to me, not re-inventing the wheel as I think the current organization works well.

Keep the ideas coming, I like what I've heard so far.
  • Steve has arranged all the trip reports chronologically by geography/contributor...

Given enough time, a new top page (thread) could include trip reports sorted by recent date only (this will rotate out say by oldest, every month, to seed a geographically titled chronology?).

The issue may be: 2 sections must be maintained: the geographically relevant sections, and the top page chronological listing....a bit more work (12 rotational JCL instances per year, if you will)...

    x2 (or more) to that!
  • If it is possible it would be nice to have a list of the most recent TR's at the beginning , maybe 6 or 12 months worth before they are absorbed into the general format .

A big thanks to all who created , maintained and contributed to this sticky .
  • Basically, I like the current format. Adding tags for visited states would be nice.

Some of the links to my reports have problems:

My 2011 TC Heaven trip says something about being stored on Cloudflare Huh? A forum thing? Certainly not where I put it.

The link for my 2008 drive along South Coast Ridge Road works initially, but the picasaweb link embedded into my post no long works. I am still mad at Google for taking away Picasaweb.... My post is apparently not editable, so even if I reconstructed that TR the link to it could not be posted.

Probably these two trips should be deleted from the sticky. So much TR prep work, eaten by technological change.

Thanks for all of the work that you and others do to keep this TR sticky alive.
