Thanks for the comments everyone. Just a few replies...
Sleepy: Apart from where we absolutely want to be in a particular campground on a particular day, we are finding it so much better to turn up and 'chance our luck'. This gives us the flexibility to match our RV. Our northern-most point was Inverness, which is 540 road miles from home if you take the shortest route (we went a different way which added an extra 40 miles). From there onwards we took a more circuitous route back which was about 750 miles.
Dadwolf2: Yes, the one on the left was Donald. It is amazing what the make-up artists can do on TV these days.
Flaxi: I have a slight haggis-addiction, but was struggling to get my regular fix on this trip - the haggis sandwich was the closest I could get. Next time I'm in Edinburgh on business I'll make sure I have a big pile of the stuff for breakfast :)
Bobndot: Glad the pictures brought back memories for you.
Raften: Maybe other walkers seeing my apparition on that wet mountain may have believed I was appearing from the other side.
Garryk6: I suspect it is quite expensive these days to ship a camper over. I'd have loved to have taken my truck camper over to AZ / CO / NM this year :) Had to put up with renting though :(
mark_be: That is actually why we haven't done Scotland in the camper until now - we were VERY lucky with the weather (apart from the first day).
DJ: Yep, that rain gets old pretty quickly. That's why we exercised our option to get the heck out of there as soon as we found there was sun half a day's drive to the east.
All the best,
Steve.
