Mike, any issues with the infamous Cedar gnats on your travels. I have never experienced them as I am usually traveling in August, Sept and October........but I have read about them.
Great report, as usual!! We boondocked for a few days in the high saddle just as you exit the east end of Long Canyon. Great day hiking back into the canyon and along the base of the mtns. that Long Canyon cuts through. Almost no car traffic, especially at night, but this was mid August. Hot, but nice and breezy.
Thanks for the compliment. Yes, the gnats are pretty prevalent this time of year. It's pretty hard to avoid them unless you're in the high country. We didn't encounter any on Boulder Mt. or on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon but got bit quite a bit at the Valley of the Gods.
Did you get any pics of your boondocking spot east of Long Canyon? I assume you were in the Pinyon Pines.
